The Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role in maintaining the financial integrity of an organization. This position requires a seasoned accounting professional who can manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting principles and will provide accurate financial information to the senior management. This role involves complex accounting tasks, financial reporting, and ensuring that the company’s financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with relevant regulations and guidelines. Additionally, the individual will take part in financial audits, tax preparations, and coordinate the flow of financial information across departments to inform strategic decisions. Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring their accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on findings.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits and assist with other periodic financial audits as required by the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by keeping current on existing and new legislation.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Manage and mentor junior accountants to ensure precision and reliability in financial reporting.
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status to assist with budget preparation.
  • Collaborate with other financial professionals within the organization to improve financial procedures.
  • Responsible for monitoring and managing the cash flow and predict future financial trends.
  • Compile and prepare special reports on demand, providing insights into key financial analytics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • CPA certification is highly preferred for this senior-level accounting role.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory, practices, and principles is crucial.
  • Proven ability to work with complex accounting software and financial systems.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to oversee a team.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with audit procedures and thorough understanding of corporate tax policies.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
