Job Description

The Purchase Associate is a crucial member of the procurement team, responsible for ensuring the smooth acquisition of goods and services necessary for the organization's operations. This role involves working closely with vendors, suppliers, and other internal departments to facilitate timely delivery and optimal cost management. The Purchase Associate must maintain excellent relationships with suppliers to ensure quality service and negotiate terms that are mutually beneficial. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to analyze market trends to make informed purchasing decisions. The successful candidate will be adept at multitasking and will contribute significantly to the efficiency and profitability of day-to-day operations.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the procurement of goods and services in alignment with company needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers for business success.
  • Assist in the negotiation process to secure favorable terms and prices with suppliers.
  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry and processing of purchase orders in the system.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to forecast purchasing needs and define requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other essential data.
  • Resolve issues related to delayed shipments and backorders to avoid disruptions.
  • Review and evaluate supplier proposals for quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in the procurement cycle.
  • Prepare reports and documentation to support purchasing strategies and objectives.
  • Adhere to company policies and industry regulations to maintain compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a purchase associate or in a similar procurement role.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with an eye for detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management best practices and strategies.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and systems for efficiency.
  • Ability to analyze data and market trends to influence purchasing decisions.
