Job Description

A Logistics Coordinator is a vital asset in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a company's supply chain system. This role is responsible for overseeing the transportation and delivery of goods along with managing inventory systems and ensuring timely order fulfillment. A successful Logistics Coordinator possesses exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. This role requires collaboration with various departments, including sales, production, and warehousing, to ensure seamless operations. Effective communication skills are essential, as the position requires interaction with external vendors and suppliers to negotiate contracts, schedule shipments, and resolve issues promptly. Moreover, this individual contributes to cost optimization by evaluating and selecting the most appropriate transportation methods, routes, and vendors.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage transportation of goods by liaising with shipping companies.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure products are adequately stocked and available.
  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors to negotiate rates and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, receipts, and orders for easy tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for all logistics activities.
  • Collaborate with the sales and production departments to plan delivery timelines.
  • Identify and solve potential problems in the logistics process proactively.
  • Analyze transportation costs to suggest cost-saving strategies for the organization.
  • Use logistics software to optimize supply chain processes efficiently.
  • Prepare reports on transportation metrics for upper management review.
  • Update clients and internal teams with shipment and delivery status regularly.
  • Develop and implement traffic management procedures to improve delivery speeds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management.
  • Proficient in using logistics and supply chain management software tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills to interact with vendors and suppliers effectively.
  • Knowledge of logistics and supply chain industry standards and regulations.
  • Ability to analyze data and produce relevant reports for decision-making processes.
