Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in assisting the Head Chef in managing our kitchen operations and ensuring that all dishes meet our high standards of excellence. You will be responsible for leading and mentoring junior staff, optimizing kitchen workflow, and ensuring the consistent quality of our culinary offerings. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, creativity, and a keen eye for detail. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation activities.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and provide guidance to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Develop new recipes and refine existing ones to enhance menu offerings.
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in all kitchen areas.
  • Inspect food storage and preparation areas to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Train and mentor junior staff in cooking procedures and kitchen etiquette.
  • Oversee plating and presentation of dishes to ensure visual appeal.
  • Monitor food quality and presentation to meet the restaurant’s standards.
  • Assist in scheduling shifts and managing kitchen staff rosters effectively.
  • Coordinate with other kitchen sections to ensure smooth operations.
  • Adapt culinary techniques to suit guests' specific dietary requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of various cooking techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines efficiently.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and food industry best practices.
  • Certificate or degree in Culinary Arts or related field is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
