Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough eye examinations using specialized equipment to evaluate vision conditions.

  • Prescribe corrective lenses such as glasses and contact lenses tailored to patient needs.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals for comprehensive care.
  • Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options available.
  • Keep precise and up-to-date records of all patient history and eye treatment plans.
  • Assist patients in understanding their insurance coverage and options for eye care services.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in optometry practices and technologies.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients undergoing eye surgery.
  • Manage and maintain optometry equipment ensuring cleanliness and readiness for use.
  • Advise patients on eyewear maintenance and lifestyle adjustments to improve vision.
  • Participate in community eye health programs and initiatives for improved access to care.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school required.
  • Proven experience in conducting comprehensive eye examinations effectively.
  • Strong understanding of optometric principles, procedures, and diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients of all ages.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems is preferred.
