Job Description

An Interventional Cardiologist specializes in diagnosing and treating heart and vascular conditions using minimally invasive techniques. This role involves using catheters and imaging techniques to perform procedures such as angioplasty and stenting. The Interventional Cardiologist plays a critical role in the healthcare team, offering expertise in managing patients with coronary artery disease, valvular disease, and peripheral vascular disease. They work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive cardiac care, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients. This is a demanding but rewarding position that requires precision, dedication, and a patient-centric approach.


Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat conditions related to heart and blood vessels using catheterization techniques.
  • Perform minimally invasive surgeries like angioplasties and stent placements to restore blood flow.
  • Examine patients and review medical histories to assess risk factors for heart diseases.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients.
  • Interpret cardiovascular diagnostic tests including EKGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests.
  • Provide emergency care to patients experiencing heart attacks or other critical cardiac events.
  • Educate patients and families about heart health and preventative measures.
  • Keep detailed records of procedures and patient outcomes for evaluation and insurance billing.
  • Participate in the on-call schedule, providing care and consultations as needed.
  • Contribute to advancing cardiac care through participation in clinical research and trials.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in interventional cardiology techniques and technologies.
  • Mentor and train junior staff members and medical students in interventional cardiology practices.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree is required.
  • Completion of a residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Cardiology.
  • Subspecialty fellowship training in Interventional Cardiology is mandatory.
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, with additional certification in Interventional Cardiology.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state where the position is based.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team setting.
  • Proven experience in performing interventional cardiology procedures independently.
