Job Description

An Estimation Engineer plays a critical role in the planning and execution of various projects, providing essential cost and time evaluations. This position requires a deep understanding of the industry and a sharp analytical mind to interpret complex data into actionable insights. The Estimation Engineer collaborates with diversified teams, including project management, procurement, and engineering, to ensure accuracy in cost estimations and budgets. A successful candidate will need excellent communication skills to convey estimations effectively and align them with client expectations and organizational objectives. Proficiency in using various industry software for calculation and analysis is essential. The Estimation Engineer's role is significant in ensuring projects are both financially viable and competitively positioned in the market.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze project requirements and develop cost estimations to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with project managers to create detailed project estimation plans.
  • Prepare and present estimation reports to upper management and stakeholders.
  • Identify cost variation trends and provide strategic recommendations for budget adjustments.
  • Research and evaluate competitive pricing and market trends within the industry.
  • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to obtain the best material and labor costs.
  • Evaluate risks associated with project estimations and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in post-estimation audits to highlight areas of improvement for future projects.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive database of historical cost data and metrics.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents, proposals, and budget forecasts.
  • Continuously improve estimation processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure all estimations comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in cost estimation or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in using estimation software and Excel, including advanced functions.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary project team.
  • Understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and financial analysis.
