Job Description

A Merchandiser plays a crucial role in ensuring that retail products are available, organized, and appealing to customers. This position involves working closely with suppliers, distributors, and department stores to forecast trends and create enticing displays that align with consumer habits and the latest industry developments. An ideal candidate possesses a keen eye for detail, understands client needs, and is proactive in managing stock levels and variety. Being in the heart of a business interface, a merchandiser also needs excellent interpersonal skills to negotiate with retail store managers and collaborate with the marketing team to execute promotional campaigns effectively.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and plan merchandise displays according to trends and seasonal changes.
  • Ensure the correct quantity of stock is available at all times in stores.
  • Communicate with suppliers to negotiate prices, quantities, and delivery schedules.
  • Analyze market trends to understand customer needs and preferences more accurately.
  • Work collaboratively with the marketing team to design and implement sales campaigns.
  • Create visually appealing displays to attract and retain customer interest.
  • Monitor and report on sales figures to identify areas for improvement continually.
  • Conduct regular store visits to ensure presentation standards are consistently met.
  • Review and implement effective inventory management strategies and practices.
  • Liaise with retail managers to understand and meet individual store requirements.
  • Develop and execute creative strategies to drive more in-store traffic and sales.
  • Stay informed about competitors' strategies and market positioning regularly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in merchandising or a similar field required.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market trends.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for supplier management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant merchandising software is essential.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and a good sense of visual aesthetics for merchandise displays.
