Job Description

An X-Ray Technician, also known as a Radiologic Technologist, plays an essential role in the medical field by using imaging equipment to capture detailed images that help diagnose various health conditions. They are responsible for ensuring that the imaging process is carried out smoothly, safely, and effectively. X-Ray Technicians must operate complex machinery, work closely with patients to ensure their comfort and safety, and collaborate with radiologists or physicians to interpret the images captured. The ideal candidate should possess excellent technical skills, have a keen eye for detail, and demonstrate strong communication skills to interact with both medical professionals and patients. Additionally, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and operating procedures is critical to ensure the best possible care.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare the X-ray equipment and ensure it's functioning correctly before use.
  • Explain the X-ray procedure to patients to alleviate any concerns or anxiety.
  • Position patients accurately to obtain the best quality images possible.
  • Operate imaging equipment safely while following all clinic protocols and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to assess patient images for diagnostic purposes.
  • Maintain patient records and manage image files in the clinic's system.
  • Follow proper safety procedures to minimize radiation exposure to the patient.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the imaging room and equipment.
  • Assist physicians with technical issues related to imaging results or processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest technological advancements in radiologic imaging.
  • Adhere to confidentiality policies regarding patient information and images.
  • Participate in continuing education and training workshops as required.

Requirements

  • An associate degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field required.
  • Valid state licensure and ARRT certification are mandatory for employment.
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting is highly preferred for this role.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to conduct accurate imaging.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients and staff.
  • Ability to handle and operate X-ray equipment based on safety protocols.
  • A keen attention to detail is necessary when analyzing diagnostic images.
  • Physical stamina to stand and maneuver equipment for extended periods.
