Job Description

As a Speech Therapist, you will focus on diagnosing, evaluating, and treating individuals with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. You will work closely with patients across different age groups to overcome various communication challenges. Your role is essential in helping individuals improve their communication skills, which can significantly enhance their quality of life. You will employ specialized techniques and therapies, catered to each patient’s unique needs, whether they have developmental speech delays, suffer from neurological disorders, or are recovering from an injury that affects their ability to communicate. This position requires patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, and communication difficulties.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments.
  • Utilize various therapy techniques to address specific communication disorders.
  • Maintain detailed records of patients' progress and treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families on coping strategies and treatment exercises.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements and research in speech therapy.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide support and guidance to patients through their treatment process.
  • Assess and modify therapy plans as necessary based on patient progress.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions when appropriate for patient needs.
  • Consult with teachers and special educators for school-aged children's therapy.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid speech therapy license to practice in the state of employment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are imperative.
  • Strong analytical and evaluative skills for developing therapy plans.
  • Ability to relate to patients of all ages and build effective relationships.
  • Previous experience in a clinical or educational setting preferred.
  • Commitment to continuous education and staying current on best practices.
