Job Description

The Site HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and promoting a strong culture of safety within the work environment. This position involves identifying potential hazards, implementing preventive measures, and managing safety programs to minimize risks to employees. The Site HSE Officer is responsible for conducting regular inspections and audits, training staff on safety practices, and developing health and safety policies in line with organizational and legal standards. This is a vital role within any organization that seeks to maintain high standards of safety and environmental impact, creating a safe, healthy, and efficient workplace on-site.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify health, safety, and environmental hazards.
  • Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures in compliance with regulations.
  • Organize and conduct safety training sessions for on-site employees and contractors.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Collaborate with site management to implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on industry HSE regulations and standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility among all employees.
  • Audit safety programs regularly to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate emergency drills and evaluate the preparedness of site personnel.
  • Document and track the progress of safety and environmental compliance initiatives.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely submissions of required reports.
  • Support the development of site-specific safety plans tailored to operational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in HSE roles, preferably in a site-based environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local and international health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills for conducting risk assessments and accident investigations.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively train staff and report findings.
  • Certification in safety management, such as NEBOSH or OSHA, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and drive initiatives with minimal supervision.
