Job Description

As a Safety Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the workplace remains safe, healthy, and compliant with all safety regulations and standards. Your primary duty is to implement and oversee the organization's safety programs and protocols to prevent workplace accidents and incidents. You'll be responsible for the continuous monitoring and improvement of safety procedures, conducting safety inspections, training, reporting, and liaising with management to ensure a safety-first culture. Your expertise will guide the organization in maintaining high safety standards, enhancing productivity, and safeguarding the well-being of all employees.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and close calls to understand causes and recommend measures.
  • Provide safety training sessions to employees and management on best practices and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records related to safety, including incidents, inspections, and training logs.
  • Stay updated with new regulations and standards to apply best safety practices effectively.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure company-wide commitment to safety standards.
  • Advise management on areas where improvements are needed in safety practices and policies.
  • Ensure that safety equipment and protective gear are functional and used consistently.
  • Help design and execute emergency response and evacuation plans and drills.
  • Analyze and report safety performance metrics to guide organizational safety initiatives.
  • Coordinate with regulatory bodies during inspections and audits to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar role within the industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA guidelines, safety protocols, and risk management techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities to manage and train staff effectively.
  • Ability to assess and mitigate risks using strategic and practical safety solutions.
  • Certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent is highly desirable and beneficial.
