Job Description

A Junior Merchandiser plays a critical role within a retailing or manufacturing environment, where they assist in the development and execution of merchandising strategies that focus on maximizing profitability and optimizing product placement. Under the guidance of senior merchandisers, they analyze market trends, sales performance, and inventory levels to support decision-making processes related to product assortment, pricing, and promotions. These professionals act as a bridge between buyers, suppliers, and store teams, ensuring that products are delivered on time, in the right quantity, and at the most effective price points. They must have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of consumer preferences to excel in this dynamic and fast-paced field.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing merchandising strategies in line with company goals.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and consumer preferences.
  • Support in analyzing past sales figures to anticipate future product demands.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate product prices and manage product sourcing.
  • Coordinate with marketing teams to align promotional activities with merchandising plans.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with logistics teams for timely product delivery.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance and inventory turnover rates.
  • Participate in product assortment planning to enhance in-store attractiveness.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, and supplier agreements.
  • Analyze competitor strategies to identify opportunities and potential threats.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and merchandising standards.
  • Provide support in visual merchandising efforts to boost product appeal and sales.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, or related field.
  • Previous experience in merchandising, retail, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data effectively.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for supplier and team interactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Keen eye for detail and a passion for retail and consumer products.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
