Job Description

An Inventory Analyst in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry plays a critical role in ensuring that products are efficiently stocked and readily available for distribution. This role requires a keen understanding of inventory management principles and practices to optimize stock levels, reduce carrying costs, and prevent stockouts or overstock situations. An Inventory Analyst must analyze data to forecast demand accurately, collaborate with various departments to synchronize supply chain operations, and utilize technology to track inventory levels. A successful Inventory Analyst will have strong analytical skills, be detail-oriented, and possess the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. This position is central to maintaining a smooth supply chain, improving customer satisfaction, and driving profitability in the FMCG sector.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability and minimize excess.
  • Conduct regular audits and reconcile inventory records to maintain accurate stock data.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing team to forecast demand and adjust inventory plans accordingly.
  • Develop and implement inventory management strategies that align with company goals.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to manage receiving, storage, and dispatching operations effectively.
  • Identify and address any discrepancies or issues in inventory management processes.
  • Generate detailed inventory reports and present findings to senior management for decision-making.
  • Utilize inventory management software to track and forecast stock levels and order needs.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products and resolve any supply chain disruptions.
  • Analyze historical data to identify trends and make recommendations for inventory optimization.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors to negotiate better terms and ensure quality control.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to inventory management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience as an Inventory Analyst or in a similar inventory management role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with teams and vendors.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of FMCG industry trends and best practices in inventory management.
