Job Description

A Distribution Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient handling and transportation of goods within a supply network. This vital position involves overseeing the logistics of distributing products, managing inventory levels, and coordinating the movement of goods from manufacturers to retailers or end-users. The primary focus of this role is to enhance the efficiency of distribution operations, minimize costs, and ensure timely delivery of products while maintaining high-quality service standards. This entails managing a team of distribution staff, liaising with suppliers and clients, and overseeing warehouse operations. The Distribution Manager is also responsible for strategizing and implementing improvements to distribution procedures and keeping up with industry trends to stay competitive.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the logistics and distribution operations daily.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and clients to ensure accurate product deliveries.
  • Develop strategies for optimizing distribution processes to meet business goals.
  • Supervise transportation activities to ensure timely product deliveries.
  • Manage inventory levels to prevent overstocking and stockouts effectively.
  • Create and implement performance metrics for distribution operations assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation and logistics regulations at all times.
  • Analyze distribution data to identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Train and mentor staff in efficient distribution practices and safety protocols.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers, retailers, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Prepare reports on distribution performance and present findings to management.
  • Adapt distribution plans in response to changes in market demand or conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in distribution management or a similar logistics role.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and distribution processes and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills to guide a distribution team effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with data analysis skills required for decision making.
  • Proficiency in distribution management software and warehouse management systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with stakeholders.
