Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef to join our culinary team. As a vital member of the kitchen brigade, you will be instrumental in preparing delicious dishes and contributing to the overall dining experience of our guests. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in learning all aspects of food preparation and a strong desire to develop their culinary skills under the supervision of experienced chefs. You will work in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and commitment to quality are essential. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items under the guidance of senior chefs.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen area.
  • Assist in the development of new menu concepts and culinary presentations.
  • Receive and properly store food deliveries, ensuring quality and freshness.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and company policies at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and timely service.
  • Assist with inventory management, reporting shortages or use of ingredients.
  • Ensure that all cooking equipment remains clean and in good working order.
  • Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and measuring according to recipes.
  • Participate in daily kitchen briefings and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Support the Senior Chef in creating special dishes for events or promotions.
  • Monitor food stock levels and report discrepancies to the Sous Chef.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Commis Chef or in a similar role preferred.
  • Basic understanding of various cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Culinary school diploma or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
