Job Description

A Chinese Chef is an expert culinary professional who specializes in Chinese cuisine, which includes a diverse range of regional cooking styles from various parts of China. This chef is responsible for creating authentic and innovative dishes that represent the rich tradition of Chinese culinary art. The role requires a deep understanding of Chinese cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavor pairings, along with the ability to manage the kitchen operations efficiently. Working in a dynamic atmosphere, a Chinese Chef must also uphold high standards of cleanliness and food safety. Creativity, attention to detail, and passion for cooking are essential attributes in this position.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook authentic Chinese dishes in accordance with traditional recipes.
  • Develop new recipes and modify menus to meet consumer demand.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh and maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff for efficient meal preparation and service.
  • Ensure the kitchen operates in accordance with food health and safety regulations.
  • Manage the consistency and quality of food served to customers.
  • Keep cooking stations fully stocked and clean at all times.
  • Train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen staff effectively.
  • Order and source ingredients and specialized Chinese products as needed.
  • Collaborate with management on the creation and execution of marketing promotions.
  • Monitor cooking times, temperatures, and ingredient quality for meals served.
  • Work with other chefs to ensure the kitchen runs efficiently and smoothly.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chinese Chef or similar role in a restaurant.
  • Deep knowledge of Chinese cuisines and culinary traditions is necessary.
  • Ability to operate kitchen appliances and adhere to kitchen safety standards.
  • Certification from a culinary school preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with kitchen staff and management.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed by business demands.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure efficiently.
