Job Description

A CCTV Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of closed-circuit television systems. As an integral part of the security department, the CCTV Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that surveillance operations are conducted seamlessly to maintain the safety and security of an area or facility. The position requires a skilled technical expert with a high level of expertise in electronic equipment, along with a comprehensive understanding of various CCTV systems. Their critical role involves assessing security needs, configuring systems accurately, and troubleshooting them efficiently to minimize downtime. By implementing state-of-the-art surveillance technology, the technician helps in both deterring and documenting security incidents, thus playing a critical part in safeguarding property and personnel.


Responsibilities

  • Install and set up CCTV systems according to specific surveillance requirements.
  • Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on installed CCTV systems for optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with security personnel to determine surveillance needs and system requirements.
  • Ensure all CCTV systems comply with relevant safety and operational standards.
  • Conduct tests and inspections on CCTV systems to ensure they function properly.
  • Maintain detailed records of all inventories, repairs, and inspections conducted.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on operating CCTV systems.
  • Stay updated with the latest CCTV technology advancements and integrate them as necessary.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for procurement of necessary system parts and upgrades.
  • Assist in diagnosing breaches or failures in security systems and implement corrective measures.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of remote monitoring systems by installing network configurations.
  • Respond promptly to technical queries or incidents related to CCTV systems.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CCTV Technician or in a similar technical role.
  • Solid understanding of CCTV system protocols, components, and configurations.
  • Experience with various brands and types of CCTV cameras and DVRs/NVRs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and repair failures.
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to interpret system diagrams and schematics.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting under minimal supervision.
