The role of an Automotive Spare Parts Store Keeper is vital within the automobile industry, ensuring that the supply chain for vehicle repair is uninterrupted. The store keeper is primarily responsible for managing the inventory of automotive spare parts, ensuring that the necessary components are readily available for repair and maintenance activities. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of automotive parts. The storekeeper works closely with suppliers, mechanics, and other stakeholders to maintain efficient stock levels, update inventory records, and facilitate the prompt fulfillment of orders. Responsibilities

  • Receive and check incoming stock of automotive spare parts and components.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through regular stock counting and inventory updates.
  • Ensure timely restocking of parts and manage pending purchase orders precisely.
  • Interacting with suppliers to negotiate best prices and delivery timelines for parts.
  • Coordinate with the service department to ensure availability of parts for repairs.
  • Identify and manage obsolete or slow-moving inventory to optimize storage space.
  • Prepare and process orders for new parts and manage all associated paperwork.
  • Keep storage areas clean and organized, maintaining safety and accessibility standards.
  • Provide support and advice to the mechanics on part selection and inventory usage.
  • Monitor trends in part usage for forecasting and strategic stocking decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and industry regulations on inventory management.
  • Assist in conducting inventory audits and preparing detailed reports for management review.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar role or field related to automotive spare parts.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and related IT applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to maintain accurate inventory details.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with suppliers and mechanics.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good analytical skills for inventory forecasting and demand planning activities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in inventory management advantageous.
