Job Description

An Auto Denter is a specialized professional in the automotive repair industry, playing a crucial role in the restoration and maintenance of vehicle bodies. The primary responsibility of an Auto Denter is to repair the damaged exterior parts of vehicles caused by accidents or wear and tear. This includes reshaping metal panels, removing dents, and aligning and replacing body components to ensure vehicles return to their original condition. These skilled technicians use a combination of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and knowledge of vehicle bodywork to carry out repairs efficiently. Auto Denters must have a keen eye for detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and a thorough understanding of vehicle structures. They must also be able to work effectively in a team environment, coordinating with other mechanics, painters, and automotive technicians to ensure the whole repair process is managed smoothly from start to finish.


Responsibilities

  • Assess damaged vehicles to identify necessary repairs using various diagnostic tools.
  • Remove dents from vehicle panels using hand tools and special equipment.
  • Shape and resize panels to fit vehicle specifications and standards accurately.
  • Utilize welding techniques to join body parts and reinforce structural integrity.
  • Replace or repair damaged parts, such as bumpers, panels, and frames.
  • Align vehicle frames and components to factory specifications and measurements.
  • Ensure all repairs meet safety and quality control standards before sign-off.
  • Collaborate with painters and other technicians to complete the restoration process.
  • Maintain workspace cleanliness and ensure all tools are properly used and stored.
  • Provide accurate repair estimates and communicate effectively with supervisors and clients.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry practices, tools, and repair techniques.
  • Document completed tasks and provide updates on repair progress to management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in auto repair preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an automotive denting or repair role.
  • Proficiency in using automotive repair tools and equipment, including welders.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle body structures and repair techniques.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail for precise repairs.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with clients and team members.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety guidelines and maintaining a safe workspace.
