Job Description

An Assistant Merchandiser plays a crucial role in supporting the merchandising team to maximize profit and minimize loss. This position typically involves working closely with buyers, suppliers, and other merchandisers to ensure the successful execution of product plans. As an Assistant Merchandiser, you will be responsible for analyzing sales data, forecasting inventory needs, and coordinating the logistics of product distribution. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of market trends. The Assistant Merchandiser is also instrumental in ensuring that the right products are in the right place at the right time, enhancing the shopping experience for customers and driving business success.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of merchandising strategies and plans.
  • Coordinate with buyers to ensure product assortment aligns with market trends.
  • Analyze sales data to inform inventory forecasting and product allocation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate costs and secure favorable terms.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to meet customer demand.
  • Support the management of product displays to optimize visual merchandising.
  • Generate reports on sales performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in seasonal buying meetings and assist in product selection.
  • Ensure all merchandising activities comply with company policies and standards.
  • Coordinate with logistics teams to manage product distribution efficiently.
  • Work closely with marketing teams to support promotional activities.
  • Provide administrative support to senior merchandisers as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in retail or merchandising roles.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage diverse priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with buyers and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of current market trends and product lifecycle management.
