Job Description

The Assistant Credit Manager is a pivotal role within the finance department responsible for managing the credit control process and supporting the Credit Manager in driving the company's credit strategy. This role involves overseeing credit applications, ensuring compliance with credit policies, and assisting in maintaining the credit risk portfolio. The Assistant Credit Manager must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be responsible for enhancing client relationships while maximizing company revenue and minimizing bad debt exposure. Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing the company's credit management strategy and policies.
  • Manage the credit application process, including the evaluation of creditworthiness of potential clients.
  • Monitor the credit portfolio to ensure adherence to company policies and risk management strategies.
  • Work closely with the finance team to forecast cash flow and manage debt recovery processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of credit activities and portfolio performance to senior management.
  • Review and analyze financial statements to assess credit risks and make recommendations.
  • Support the Credit Manager in negotiating credit terms with clients and establishing credit limits.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to reinforce the importance of timely payments.
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve issues related to overdue accounts.
  • Oversee the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date client credit files and records.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of the credit process.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior credit team members to enhance their skills and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field is required.
  • At least three years of experience in credit management or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with credit management software.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements relevant to credit management.
