Job Description

The Assistant Credit Manager plays a pivotal role in a company's finance team, helping to manage credit operations, assess creditworthiness, and oversee the extension of credit to clients. This position is crucial for ensuring that the company maintains a healthy cash flow and minimizes the risk of non-payment across its customer base. The Assistant Credit Manager collaborates closely with the Credit Manager to analyze financial data, evaluate credit applications, set credit limits, and resolve any credit-related issues. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of financial principles. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Credit Manager in evaluating and approving credit applications from clients.
  • Monitor outstanding balances and follow up with clients on overdue payments.
  • Perform credit analysis on potential and existing clients to determine creditworthiness.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients to ensure effective credit management.
  • Report on credit activities to senior management, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Liaise with internal departments to resolve any billing discrepancies or credit issues.
  • Assist in setting and adjusting credit limits based on client financial evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies and update procedures as necessary.
  • Assist in external audits related to credit activities and provide necessary documentation.
  • Conduct daily reviews of the credit system and suggest improvements when necessary.
  • Coordinate with the legal team on managing collections from defaulting clients.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior credit staff and support their professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in credit management or related financial position.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in both verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members across different departments.
  • Proficiency with financial software and tools, including credit scoring systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
