Job Description

An Accounts Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the accounting department by supporting accountants, financial managers, and other financial professionals. This position involves a wide array of administrative and clerical duties. Accounts Assistants are responsible for managing daily accounting and financial tasks, which may include handling accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, data entry, and maintaining account ledgers. The ideal candidate for this role is detail-oriented and possesses strong organizational skills, as they frequently deal with various financial records and documents. By efficiently managing their tasks, Accounts Assistants help maintain the financial health and transparency of a business, allowing for effective budget management and financial planning.


Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports.
  • Process invoices, receipts, and expense forms promptly and accurately.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable efficiently and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Reconcile bank statements with internal records and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Support payroll operations including data entry and payroll preparation.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain and update accounting records and ledgers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct regular audits of financial transactions and documents to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide clerical support to the accounting department and team members as needed.
  • Prepare financial statements under the direction of financial managers and accountants.
  • Assist in implementing and following accounting policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and clients regarding billing and payments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant or similar administrative role.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
