Job Description

The Site HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the safety and health standards of a project or workplace environment. This position requires an individual with strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and a profound understanding of HSE regulations and practices. The Site HSE Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local and international standards. They work closely with site managers, staff, and contractors to promote a culture of safety, conduct risk assessments, and ensure that all safety equipment and measures are in place and functional. Their goal is to minimize risks and ensure the safety of all personnel involved in operations.


Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective HSE policies and procedures on site.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
  • Organize and conduct HSE training sessions and safety drills for personnel.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Coordinate with management to develop strategies for improving workplace safety.
  • Prepare and present reports on safety performance and trends to senior management.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship among team members.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is properly maintained and fully operational.
  • Maintain records of compliance, audits, and health and safety data accurately.
  • Advise on waste management, pollution prevention, and other sustainability initiatives.
  • Liaise with external regulatory bodies and relevant government authorities as needed.
  • Assist in emergency response planning and manage on-site emergencies when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in an HSE role, preferably on construction sites.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and local/national HSE standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage and motivate teams.
  • Ability to analyze data and implement practical safety solutions effectively.
  • Professional certification in health and safety management is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
