Job Description

The Site HSE Officer is a crucial role responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental compliance at construction or industrial sites. As the primary HSE contact on-site, this role involves implementing and managing the company's HSE policies and programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. The Site HSE Officer conducts regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks. In addition, this position requires close collaboration with site management and workers to cultivate a culture of safety and compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate must possess strong communication skills and a good understanding of industry health and safety standards, practices, and procedures to effectively promote a safe site operation.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and programs tailored to site conditions.
  • Perform risk assessments and recommend corrective actions to mitigate identified hazards.
  • Lead and coordinate safety meetings and training sessions for site personnel.
  • Investigate and report incidents, accidents, and near misses with detailed documentation.
  • Liaise with management to address any identified safety issues and improvements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and implement improvements where needed.
  • Maintain records of site incidents and HSE performance statistics for analysis.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all onsite personnel.
  • Stay updated with local, state, and federal HSE regulations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and bodies on HSE-related audits and inspections.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to site managers and workers on HSE matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a safety role, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proficient knowledge of HSE laws, regulations, and practices relevant to the industry.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess hazards and implement corrective actions effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective report writing and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is highly preferred.
