Job Description

As a Pastry Commis, you will be a crucial member of our pastry kitchen team. You will work under the guidance of our dedicated pastry chefs to create delicious and aesthetically pleasing pastries, desserts, and baked goods. Your role involves assisting in the preparation, baking, and decoration of a variety of desserts such as cakes, cookies, and pastries. It is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about pastry arts and eager to learn and grow in the culinary field. Responsibilities

  • Assist senior pastry chefs in the preparation and cooking of pastry items.
  • Measure, mix, and prepare ingredients according to established recipes or recipes presented.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly including mixers, ovens, and other appliances.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation and kitchen environment.
  • Assist in the creation and decoration of pastries, cakes, and other desserts.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines during food preparation.
  • Coordinate with the team to prepare and finish orders on time and to quality standards.
  • Contribute to new recipe development with innovative ideas and creativity.
  • Perform inventory checks and manage ingredient supplies in the pastry section.
  • Package and label baked goods for presentation and sale as required.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to improve skills and knowledge.
  • Provide support to pastry chefs in all tasks necessary for successful kitchen operations.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role or culinary training preferred.
  • A genuine passion for pastry arts and dedication to high-quality standards.
  • Understanding of basic pastry techniques and the ability to follow recipes accurately.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Flexibility in work hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet job demands.
