Job Description

The Front Desk Clerk plays a pivotal role in the hospitality industry, acting as the first point of contact for guests and ensuring a positive and welcoming interaction. This position involves handling guest check-ins, managing reservations, and providing guests with information about the premises and surrounding area. A Front Desk Clerk must possess excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask under pressure. The ideal candidate will be friendly, approachable, and capable of providing solutions to guest inquiries and problems promptly. As a crucial part of the front-of-house team, the Front Desk Clerk contributes significantly to the guest experience, fostering an environment of warmth and professionalism.


Responsibilities

  • Greet guests upon arrival and acknowledge guests leaving the premises professionally.
  • Manage the check-in and check-out process efficiently to exceed guest expectations.
  • Answer and route phone calls to the appropriate departments promptly and politely.
  • Handle guest inquiries and concerns, ensuring satisfactory resolutions are provided.
  • Maintain accurate records of room reservations and communications with guests.
  • Provide guests with information about hotel amenities, services, and surrounding areas.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure room readiness standards.
  • Monitor the front desk to ensure safety and security standards are upheld at all times.
  • Process payments accurately and ensure guests receive correct billing information.
  • Keep the reception area tidy and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and record-keeping.
  • Promote and communicate any ongoing offers and promotions to potential and existing guests.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification required for this position.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Proficient in using standard office software and hotel management reservation systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills are critical for managing diverse tasks efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve guest inquiries and issues promptly.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor, reflecting the company’s image positively.
