Job Description

The position of Dental Receptionist/Dental Nurse is a dual role that combines administrative and clinical duties within a dental practice. This unique and dynamic role is integral to ensuring efficient operation of the practice, as well as providing excellent patient care. As a Dental Receptionist, you will be responsible for managing the front desk operations, which include greeting patients, scheduling appointments, managing phone inquiries, and handling patient records. As a Dental Nurse, you will assist the dentist during procedures, provide patient care, and maintain a sterile environment. The ideal candidate should be a proactive team player with excellent communication skills and an aptitude for multi-tasking, and should possess a passion for patient care in a healthcare setting. The ability to remain calm under pressure and have a keen eye for detail will contribute greatly to the success in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar.
  • Greet patients with a friendly demeanor and provide information as needed.
  • Answer phone inquiries, addressing client questions and directing calls appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and update information systems.
  • Assist the dentist in chair-side procedures, ensuring patient comfort throughout.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by ensuring they are clean, sterile, and well-equipped.
  • Order and monitor dental supplies, ensuring availability for practice needs.
  • Manage patient payment processing and verify insurance information accurately.
  • Educate patients on post-procedure care and oral hygiene instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control procedures and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate referrals and liaise with other healthcare professionals when required.
  • Participate in treatment planning and case management alongside dental professionals.

Requirements

  • Certification or diploma in dental nursing or related field is required.
  • Previous experience as a dental nurse or receptionist desired but not mandatory.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Basic computer proficiency with knowledge of dental practice management software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical obligations.
  • Flexible and adaptable to handle a dynamic work environment and workload.
