Job Description

The Dental Assistant (14N25) is a crucial member of the dental team, assisting dentists in delivering high-quality oral care to patients. This role involves a mix of clinical, administrative, and laboratory duties that support the dentist’s workflow and enhance patient satisfaction. The Dental Assistant will help prepare patients for treatments, maintain dental equipment, and ensure a sterile and organized environment. Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate attitude are essential for success in this position. Working closely with other dental professionals, the Dental Assistant plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the dental practice and the delivery of optimal patient care.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for dental procedures by ensuring comfort and explaining treatments.
  • Assist the dentist during dental treatments with instruments and materials.
  • Ensure all dental instruments and equipment are sterilized and organized properly.
  • Maintain accurate and precise patient records by updating charts and forms.
  • Handle administrative duties, including scheduling appointments and maintaining patient files.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays) as prescribed by the dentist.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-procedure care guidelines.
  • Order and manage inventory of dental supplies and materials as needed.
  • Provide support in the maintenance and cleanup of the dental laboratory environment.
  • Assist with impression taking, processing, and pouring dental models correctly.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot any operational issues.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and procedures to ensure a safe clinical setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education is required for the position.
  • Completion of an accredited dental assistant program is highly desirable.
  • Possession of a Dental Assistant certification or license is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a dental assistant is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with dental software systems for scheduling and records management.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to instruct patients clearly.
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of dental procedures, materials, and instruments is required.
