Job Description

A Counsellor/Psychotherapist is a trained professional who provides mental health support and guidance to individuals dealing with a variety of emotional, psychological, and behavioral issues. This role involves working closely with clients to help them understand and overcome personal struggles, improve their wellbeing, and make positive life changes. Counsellors/Psychotherapists conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and utilize therapeutic techniques to assist clients in achieving their personal goals. They work in diverse settings, including community health organizations, hospitals, educational institutions, and private practice. This position demands strong interpersonal skills, empathy, confidentiality, and a deep understanding of human psychology and counseling methodologies.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand clients' mental health conditions and needs.
  • Develop tailored treatment plans to address clients' psychological and emotional challenges.
  • Provide counseling sessions to individuals, couples, families, or groups as needed.
  • Utilize therapeutic techniques appropriate for the clients' specific issues and needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress reports.
  • Monitor clients' progress and modify treatment plans as necessary for effective outcomes.
  • Offer support and guidance to clients during crisis situations and emergencies.
  • Conduct follow-up sessions to ensure clients are maintaining progress post-treatment.
  • Collaborate with other health professionals for comprehensive client care and treatment plans.
  • Stay informed about the latest research and practices in counseling and psychotherapy.
  • Ensure client confidentiality is maintained in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Attend workshops and professional development sessions to enhance counseling skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Valid professional license or certification in counseling or psychotherapy.
  • Proven experience in a similar role providing mental health counseling services.
  • Strong understanding of psychological theories and therapeutic practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and act with integrity.
  • Willingness to attend continual training and professional development sessions.
