Job Description

The Bakery Assistant is an integral part of the bakery team, providing essential support to ensure smooth operations and exemplary customer service. This role involves assisting bakers with various tasks, maintaining cleanliness in the bakery area, and ensuring that all baked goods are of the highest quality. The Bakery Assistant is responsible for preparing baking ingredients, organizing supplies, and assisting with the baking process as directed. This position demands a reliable and efficient individual who is passionate about delivering fresh and delicious baked products to customers. An eye for detail and a commitment to hygiene and safety protocols are essential to excel in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Assist bakers in preparing ingredients and measuring quantities accurately.
  • Organize and clean workstations, ensuring they are well-maintained and stocked.
  • Operate bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, and scales responsibly.
  • Package and label baked goods with appropriate dates and pricing information.
  • Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure products are baked correctly.
  • Assist with maintaining inventory levels and order supplies as required.
  • Help meet bakery sales goals by ensuring products are consistently available.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to queries about bakery products.
  • Support the cleaning and sanitation of bakery equipment and tools.
  • Comply with food safety regulations and internal health and safety policies.
  • Coordinate with team members to prioritize daily tasks and manage workload.
  • Assist in creative bakery projects, including decorating cakes and pastries.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a bakery or similar food service environment preferred.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • Basic understanding of food safety practices and kitchen hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training is a plus.
