Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our dynamic Operating Theatre (OT) team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. The Staff Nurse will work closely with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that the highest standards of patient care and safety are maintained. The role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond promptly to the fast-paced and critical environment of an operating theatre. Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Assist in positioning and draping patients for surgical procedures to ensure their safety.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and provide appropriate interventions during surgery.
  • Work collaboratively with surgeons and anesthetists to maintain a sterile surgical environment.
  • Administer prescribed medications and start intravenous (IV) lines as required by surgical staff.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patients' care throughout the surgical process.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control policies and health care regulations in the OT.
  • Provide emotional and medical support to patients and families pre- and post-surgery.
  • Manage and maintain surgical instruments, ensuring they are sterilized and in good condition.
  • Participate in continuing education workshops to keep up with modern surgical nursing techniques.
  • Respond promptly to any surgical emergency situations in the operating room environment.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care plans.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with a current nursing license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with operating theatre experience preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a high-stress environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective teamwork.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and delivering compassionate care.
  • CPR and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification are mandatory.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts, as required.
