Job Description

A Transportation Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of transportation operations within a company. This leadership position requires strategic planning and management skills to oversee the planning, directing, and coordination of transportation activities. The Transportation Manager is responsible for optimizing the transportation processes to meet customer needs, control costs, and ensure compliance with safety and governmental regulations. Responsibilities

  • Analyze transportation data and metrics to recommend process improvements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to achieve the best transportation services.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with transportation-related service providers.
  • Implement safety, environmental, and training programs for transportation security.
  • Resolve and respond effectively to transportation issues and customer inquiries.
  • Schedule maintenance and repairs of transportation vehicles and equipment.
  • Forecast future transportation needs based on business trends and planning.
  • Monitor fleet management to ensure timely delivery of goods to destinations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in transportation or logistics management.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation management systems and relevant software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Ability to analyze complex logistics data and derive actionable insights.
  • Proven track record in cost savings and efficiency improvements initiatives.
