Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Pastry Commis to join our dynamic culinary team. As a Pastry Commis, you will have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned pastry chefs in a creative and fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and presentation of a wide range of pastries and desserts, ensuring that the highest standards of taste and presentation are consistently met. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in pastry arts and who is eager to learn and develop their skills. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Pastry Chef in preparing and decorating pastries and desserts.
  • Ensure all food preparation is conducted in a hygienic and safe manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times during your shift.
  • Understand and follow recipes and presentation standards for all pastries served.
  • Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, etc., and report shortages.
  • Assist in creating new recipes and dessert menus with the pastry team.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards in the kitchen.
  • Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils in a structured manner.
  • Support other kitchen staff when necessary, such as during peak times or absences.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improvements in the kitchen.
  • Assist in delivering trainings for junior staff and apprentices in the pastry section.
  • Review food quality and performance to maintain consistency in service delivery.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a professional kitchen, preferably in pastry.
  • Basic understanding of pastry techniques and general culinary methods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality desserts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with kitchen staff.
  • Formal culinary training or certification in pastry arts is highly preferred.
