Job Description

The Logistics Fleet Controller plays an integral role in ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective operation of a company’s transportation fleet. This position is pivotal in maintaining the smooth flow of goods within the supply chain and ensuring the delivery of goods to customers on time. The Logistics Fleet Controller is responsible for both managing the fleet's day-to-day activities and dealing with unexpected issues promptly. This involves overseeing drivers, scheduling routes, maintaining communication with logistics staff, and handling logistical records. A successful candidate will have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a knack for problem-solving, enabling them to manage the fleet's legal compliance, safety standards, and cost-efficiency effectively.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee transportation operations involving the company’s fleet of vehicles daily.
  • Develop and optimize delivery schedules to enhance efficiency and reduce delivery times.
  • Monitor the performance and maintenance needs of all fleet vehicles to ensure operational reliability.
  • Liaise with drivers and ensure they are adhering to company policies and legal regulations.
  • Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry safety standards at all times.
  • Manage fleet budgets, monitor expenditure, and identify areas for financial savings.
  • Maintain accurate records of fleet operations, including mileage, fuel consumption, and servicing.
  • Collaborate with logistics teams to synchronize transportation activities with production schedules.
  • Resolve operational issues promptly to minimize disruptions in service delivery effectively.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and evaluating drivers and other related personnel in the fleet department.
  • Analyze logistical problems and develop solutions to improve processes and service delivery.
  • Ensure that all fleet vehicles are compliant with legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in fleet management or logistics operations is essential for this role.
  • Knowledge of logistics software and GPS systems for effective fleet management.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a strong ability to multitask efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with drivers and management effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, informed decisions.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and standards concerning transportation and logistics.
