Job Description

The Hospital Receptionist serves as the initial point of contact for patients and visitors entering the healthcare facility, providing front desk support, and a high standard of customer service necessary to foster a welcoming environment. This role involves handling inquiries, scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and ensuring that all administrative processes run smoothly. The Hospital Receptionist must possess excellent communication skills, maintain a professional demeanor, and utilize effective organizational skills to coordinate various tasks. Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors with a friendly and welcoming attitude and manner.
  • Answer and direct phone calls efficiently, ensuring prompt response and clarity.
  • Schedule patient appointments accurately, coordinating with healthcare professionals' availability.
  • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality is strictly adhered to.
  • Assist patients with the completion of necessary forms and documentation.
  • Manage the flow of patients in the wait area and ensure effective queue management.
  • Assist with billing inquiries and process patient payments efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with the medical team for any pertinent patient information.
  • Provide information and assistance to individuals inquiring about hospital services and facilities.
  • Keep the reception area organized, neat, and professional at all times.
  • Resolve or escalate patient complaints promptly to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Perform general administrative tasks such as faxing, copying, and mailing correspondence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification required for this role.
  • Previous experience in a reception or customer service role preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities are required to manage tasks.
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency in office software applications needed.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced medical environment.
  • Empathy and professionalism, with a customer-focused attitude, essential.
