Job Description

As a Health and Safety Officer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring workplace safety and compliance with health regulations. You will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing safety policies in accordance with legislative requirements. Your keen attention to detail and ability to communicate safety standards throughout the organization will be vital in minimizing risks associated with occupational health hazards. You will collaborate closely with management and various departments to promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide safety training and education programs across all levels of the company.
  • Stay informed about current health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety first.
  • Monitor workplace conditions and implement measures to prevent health hazards.
  • Document and report all health and safety incidents and near misses promptly.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and conduct regular drills and evaluations.
  • Interact with external regulatory bodies and manage compliance audits and reports efficiently.
  • Advise on the health and safety-related purchasing of necessary equipment and safe handling.
  • Lead the Health and Safety Committee meetings and address any arising concerns promptly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in a health and safety role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct detailed investigations.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively train and inform employees.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office and safety management software solutions.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR training is considered an asset.
