Job Description

A Database Administrator is a key player in ensuring that an organization's data management systems are efficient, secure, and performant. This role requires a professional with in-depth knowledge of database management systems (DBMS), who can skillfully design, configure, and maintain databases while ensuring high levels of data integrity and security. The Database Administrator will interact closely with data analysts, developers, and IT support staff to address any database-related queries or issues. In addition, they are responsible for database backup and recovery processes, performance tuning, and capacity planning. This role is critical to the organization's success, as it enables reliable access to vital data for informed decision-making and strategic planning.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor database performance and conduct necessary optimizations and fine-tuning.
  • Secure databases by developing policies, access controls, and procedures.

  • Manage database upgrade and migration processes efficiently and with minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate databases in new applications.
  • Analyze and resolve complex database issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and service records.
  • Provide support and consultation for database-related projects to optimize performance.

  • Stay updated with emerging database technologies and best practices to improve operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience working as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in database management systems such as SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle.
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, and principles.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization techniques.
  • Ability to implement robust database security measures and backup mechanisms.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
