Job Description

The Commis Chef specializing in South Indian Cuisine plays an instrumental role in supporting our kitchen team to deliver authentic and delicious South Indian dishes. This position provides an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic chefs looking to hone their culinary skills in a dynamic environment. You will work closely with our head chef and senior kitchen staff to prepare a diverse range of traditional South Indian dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of traditional South Indian dishes daily.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh and comply with food safety standards.
  • Support the head chef in developing new recipes and menu items.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in the kitchen at all times.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations while working in the kitchen.
  • Prepare specific ingredients, components, and dishes as instructed by senior chefs.
  • Check the quality and quantity of stock and place orders when necessary.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth food service operations.
  • Receive and properly store deliveries to maintain food quality and safety.
  • Help with plating and garnishing dishes for presentation excellence.
  • Participate in kitchen cleaning routines, including equipment and utensils.
  • Ensure correct food handling and temperature storage practices are followed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a commis chef, particularly in South Indian cuisine.
  • Knowledge of a variety of traditional South Indian cooking techniques.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and handle stress effectively.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and sanitary regulations in kitchen settings.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new culinary techniques and styles.
  • Flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays as required.
