Responsibilities

  • Assist senior chefs in preparing diverse South Indian dishes with accuracy.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within kitchen workstations and storage areas.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure customer safety.
  • Prepare ingredients accurately, focusing on freshness and authenticity of flavors.
  • Support inventory management by checking stock and reporting supply needs.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and service.
  • Perform basic cooking tasks such as grilling, frying, and steaming under guidance.
  • Assist in plating of dishes to meet presentation and portion control standards.
  • Receive and inspect deliveries to ensure quality and quantity meet restaurant standards.
  • Contribute ideas for daily specials and menu improvements where possible.
  • Engage in training sessions to develop and enhance cooking skills further.
  • Follow recipes accurately, adjusting as necessary to meet guest specifications.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a commis chef or similar role, particularly in South Indian cuisine.
  • Basic understanding of different cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment.
  • Excellent personal hygiene and knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and standard.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in the kitchen.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new cooking techniques and methods.
  • Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or related field is preferred.
