Responsibilities

• Accurately handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions using a cash register.
• Identify and resolve customer issues efficiently and politely, escalating when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and organized checkout area to ensure a pleasant environment.
• Count cash in the register at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accuracy.
• Verify the age and identification of customers when processing restricted item purchases.
• Assist customers in finding the items they are looking for to enhance their shopping experience.
• Process merchandise returns and exchanges following company policies and procedures.
• Bag purchased items carefully and ensure the correct change is provided to customers.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure store objectives are met.
• Stay informed about the products and services offered to better assist customers.
• Engage with customers by answering questions and offering suggestions in a professional manner.
• Monitor customer purchases to prevent shoplifting and protect store assets.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
• Prior experience in a retail or customer service setting is preferred.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary for calculating discounts and giving change.
• Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to converse with customers.
• Able to stand and walk for extended periods during work shifts.
• Flexible availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
