The BIM Designer MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) plays a vital role in the building design and construction industry. This position involves creating detailed 3D models for MEP projects using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. A BIM Designer is responsible not only for the creation of these models but also for ensuring that they adhere to project specifications and relevant industry standards. The role demands a high degree of technical expertise and spatial understanding to translate architectural designs into functional plans that successfully integrate the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. BIM Designers work closely with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to facilitate a seamless design and construction process, ensuring that timelines and regulations are strictly followed. They also play a crucial part in identifying and troubleshooting potential issues through clash detection and coordination, ultimately leading to cost savings and enhanced project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop accurate BIM models for MEP systems utilizing advanced BIM software tools.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to ensure design accuracy and intent.
• Coordinate with various project stakeholders to resolve design discrepancies and conflicts.
• Implement BIM standards and procedures to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
• Perform clash detection and provide solutions to mitigate identified issues in the design phase.
• Ensure that the MEP plans are compliant with the current building codes and regulations.
• Maintain project documentation including updates to models, drawings, and as-built information.
• Conduct periodic reviews and updates of models to reflect design changes and project evolution.
• Provide technical support and training to team members on BIM software and best practices.
• Generate schedules and detailed drawings from BIM models to assist construction teams.
• Ensure project timelines are met without compromising on the quality of execution.
• Continuously evaluate and adopt new BIM-related technologies and methods to improve efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in BIM design with a focus on MEP projects.
• Proficient with BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD MEP.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction processes, and building codes.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects effectively with excellent time management skills.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and team members.
