Job Description

The Assistant Restaurant Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of restaurant services, delivering an exceptional dining experience to guests, and supporting the Restaurant Manager in leading the team. This position involves a blend of customer service, team leadership, and operational management. The ideal candidate will have a background in hospitality, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing superior service. By maintaining high standards of food quality and safety, the Assistant Restaurant Manager helps ensure the restaurant’s success and profitability. This role requires flexibility, as it involves working varied shifts, including some weekends and holidays.


Responsibilities

  • Assist the Restaurant Manager in daily operations and overall restaurant management.
  • Supervise and guide restaurant staff to ensure high levels of service.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all facets of the restaurant.
  • Oversee customer service practices, resolving complaints and taking feedback constructively.
  • Train new employees on restaurant policies, customer service standards, and job duties.
  • Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient service and guest satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to keep the team informed and motivated.
  • Contribute to menu planning and suggest improvements based on customer feedback.
  • Generate operational reports and present findings to the Restaurant Manager for review.
  • Assist in managing cash handling procedures and end-of-day financial reconciliation.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized environment for both staff and guests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a restaurant management role.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Proficiency in restaurant management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and best practices for restaurants.
