Job Description

An Accounts Payable Supervisor plays a critical role in managing the accounts payable department and ensuring that all company expenses are paid accurately and timely. This position is essential for maintaining good vendor relationships and ensuring the financial health of the organization by overseeing all tasks related to invoice processing, payment disbursement, and compliance with financial policies. The Accounts Payable Supervisor will lead a team of accounts payable specialists and clerks, mentor juniors for career development, and work closely with other finance departments to streamline processes. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, with a strong background in financial accounting and team leadership.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead the accounts payable team ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the accounts payable cycle from start to finish.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and reconciliation of vendor statements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain systems, procedures, and policies for accounts payable.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve any invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
  • Monitor and manage the accounts payable ledger for accurate financial reporting.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with all financial policies.
  • Prepare and provide analysis on accounts payable metrics and reports to senior management.
  • Negotiate terms with suppliers and ensure agreements are in the organization's best interest.
  • Mentor and train junior staff to ensure career growth and skill development.
  • Handle vendor correspondence and respond promptly to inquiries and payment queries.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of current accounts payable industry practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar role.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a finance team is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with vendors and team members.
