Job Description

The Financial Controller plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health and efficiency of an organization. This position requires a strategic mindset, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail. The Financial Controller is chiefly responsible for managing the financial reporting, budgeting processes, risk management, and compliance protocols. They act as the financial backbone of the company, providing managers and executives with accurate financial information to aid in decision-making. The position involves working closely with all departments to ensure that financial operations are in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. They should also possess a deep understanding of various financial software and tools to streamline processes.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the financial department, ensuring operations run smoothly and effectively.
  • Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for executive review.
  • Implement strong financial procedures and policies to enhance company accountability.
  • Monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with financial legislation and regulations.
  • Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts.
  • Manage and oversee the cash flow of the company to ensure it has the appropriate treasury set up.
  • Develop the financial strategy for the company in cooperation with executive management.
  • Supervise finance personnel such as accountants and financial assistants.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plans of the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting and tax filing requirements.
  • Analyze operations for potential improvements and efficiencies in expenditure and revenue generation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience is required.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar management role in the finance department.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and internal controls.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the attention to detail needed for precise financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in using financial software systems and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills for reporting and collaboration with stakeholders.
