Job Description

An Export Sales Manager plays a crucial role in expanding a company’s sales operations to the international market. Their primary responsibility is to enhance sales and profitability through effective international marketing and sales strategies. They are required to understand the diversity of cultures and business environments globally, and are adept in adapting sales strategies as per the regional requirements. The role involves a mixture of strategic planning, on-the-ground sales work, and working with various departments to ensure smooth international operations. An Export Sales Manager must be both creative and analytical, possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, and have a deep understanding of international trade laws and standards. They are confident decision-makers, capable of steering their team toward achieving targeted sales goals and expanding brand presence worldwide.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement international sales strategies to achieve company sales targets globally.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential new markets and sales opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with international clients and distribution partners.
  • Analyze sales data and trends to forecast and plan the sales strategy effectively.
  • Coordinate with the marketing team to devise promotional strategies and materials for international markets.
  • Participate in international trade shows and exhibitions to enhance brand visibility and customer outreach.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and manage all documentation related to export sales.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions of sales agreements with international clients and partners.
  • Prepare detailed and regular sales reports for senior management review and strategic decision making.
  • Train and manage a team of sales representatives to achieve international sales goals and objectives.
  • Monitor competitor activities and propose strategies to stay ahead in the global market.
  • Collaborate with the logistics department to ensure timely delivery and distribution of products internationally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, or a related field is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in international sales or export management preferred.
  • Strong understanding of international trade laws, tariffs, and export agreements essential.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective client and partner interactions.
  • Proficient in using sales software tools and Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and data analysis.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required to meet with clients and partners.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets in an international sales environment.
