Surgical First Assistant

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and forward-thinking surgical first assistant to work within our orthopaedic team at the National Treatment Centre - Highland (NTC) Theatre Team. We would welcome qualified applicants or those who wish to develop and undertake the SFA course through the NHS Scotland Academy (NHSSA). Applicants must have 3 years scrub experience.

The NTC-H is a new purpose built centre which will provide care for both Ophthalmology and Orthopaedic Patients. The Centre is under construction on the Citys University Campus and has 5 theatres, a 24-bedded ward and dedicated Ophthalmology Outpatient Department.

This post will offer a unique opportunity to specialise in orthopaedics, primarily hip/knee arthroplasty with some exposure to hand, foot & ankle surgery. The successful applicant will be one of four SFAs within the NTC and become a valuable member of the team.

The post holder will also be involved in other areas of theatre such as scrub, supporting the wider theatre team. The successful applicant will also be given the opportunity to be involved in team development and participate in delivering PDPs, whilst also continuously striving to improve service and patient outcomes.
