- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience coding in one or more general purpose languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C or C++).
- Experience designing cloud enterprise solutions and supporting customer projects to completion.
- Ability to communicate in English fluently to collaborate efficiently with local customers.
Preferred qualifications:
- Active Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect (PCA) or Professional Cloud Developer (PCD) certification.
- Experience designing and writing testable code from the ground up, utilizing frameworks like pytest to build comprehensive automated test suites for validation pipelines.
- Experience or familiarity coding in additional languages such as Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, or C#.
- Practical experience instrumenting code for distributed tracing, structured logging, and metrics collection using open standards (e.g. OpenTelemetry) specifically for deep system debugging and profiling.
About the jobAs a Strategic Cloud Engineer within the JAPAC AppDev Practice, you will work directly with Google’s largest customers on critical application development, modernization, and production launch projects to help them transform their businesses. You will facilitate the design, modernization, and deployment of production-grade cloud-native applications, collaborating closely with customer technical teams and project leads to drive the adoption of modern solution patterns on Google Cloud Platform.
You possess a broad skillset encompassing software engineering, clean architecture design, distributed systems, container technologies, and release execution strategies, driven by a curiosity and passion to help customers with new technology. To be successful, you know how to navigate ambiguity, have demonstrated experience deploying and launching software solutions into production, and enjoy working closely with customer teams.
Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end, full-stack cloud architectures on Google Cloud Platform, formulating system designs and making objective technical trade-offs regarding functionality, performance, and integration to optimize solution scalability.
- Configure and implement automated software delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and cloud-native release strategies (Canary or Blue/Green) on container platforms like GKE or Cloud Run.
- Instrument application telemetry, distributed tracing within solution architectures to enable rapid bug triage, auditability, and performance tuning.
- Earn trust as a technical advisor to customer practitioners and project leads facilitating discovery workshops, resolving engineering blockers, and collaborating cross-functionally with Google Cloud Product, and partner teams.
- Recognize repeatable architectural patterns and reference code from client engagements, packaging them into reusable team assets and supporting the technical scoping of pipeline opportunities.
