Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS), Mechanical Design & Reliability
Role Overview We are looking for a hands-on Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS), Mechanical Design & Reliability, to own the mechanical deployment readiness and field reliability of our mobile robots and site accessories, as the approving authority for mechanical changes to released products.
The role finds why hardware fails, fixes it at the root, and stops it recurring across every site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead root cause analysis on mechanical failures, run the failure reporting and corrective action loop (FRACAS), track MTBF and repeat failures, and define the site environment and interfaces our products need, supporting new deployments, commissioning and SATs with the installation and commissioning team.
- Review and approve all mechanical changes to released products, including vendor-proposed changes, design fixes and retrofits in Creo, and release them through PLM with engineering change notices.
- Write the test cases and site acceptance tests (SATs) that verify each change before and after field rollout, and set preventive maintenance intervals and wear-part life from field data.
- Maintain DFMEA for fielded products, support early-life stabilization at new sites, provide field reliability evidence for handover reviews, work directly with suppliers on part quality and corrective actions, set mechanical reliability standards across products, lead design reviews for sustaining changes, and mentor junior engineers.
- This is a senior individual-contributor role for someone with 6 to 10 years of experience who takes ownership and drives issues from field data through closure.
- Location: Gurugram, with travel to customer and supplier locations in the US, Europe, Latin America and Southeast Asia.
